Tiny Tots

The Tiny Tots Preschool Tennis Development Program is designed to introduce preschool students between the ages of 3-5 years old to tennis through fun and fitness. The program emphasizes the importance of physical exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle to children and their parents.

Program Footprint & Framework

Our focus is on public and private preschools from Devonshire to St. George; with a target of approximately 120 students. Classes will be held twice a month for each regional preschool during the school year at the Grotto Bay Tennis Facility. The length of each class will run from 45 minutes to an hour.

Program Criteria

The Tiny Tots Preschool Tennis Development Program incorporates the new International Tennis Federation (ITF) regulations for junior tennis development, with activities designed to aide in the development of the following:

• Motor Skills
• Co-ordination
• Teamwork
• Sportsmanship
• Tennis Etiquette

Fundamental tennis skills will also be covered during the lessons; as follows:

• Holding the tennis racket
• Racket – tennis ball contact
• Swing movement of the racket
• Eye – ball coordination
• Footwork and drills
• In court – out of court
• Speed and movement drills

Tennis in the Schools Initiative

Grotto Bay Tennis Club Head Coach Romar Douglas is the East End coordinator of the Tennis in the Schools Initiative. Sponsored by the BLTA and the Bermuda Government, coaches go into primary and middle schools to provide tennis instruction as part of the physical education curriculum.
